Saying goodbye

Image from Pinterest
This month has been one of mixed events.  Some so wonderful that it takes a quiet moment to soak in the loveliness of it all.  Others so sharp and painful that we can almost taste the sourness in our hearts.

This month, we had to say good bye to a friend.  He was a good man.  He was a kind man.  He lived a good life and we were sad to learn that he had passed on suddenly.  Although he was old, he never showed his age and seemed immortal.  His death is a grim reminder that we aren't here forever and that we should love as much and as hard as possible.

We will miss him just like we miss all the ones who have gone before us.  It's never easy but life goes on.

Rest in peace, Cyril De witt.  Thank you for touching our lives.

Rest in peace, all my loved ones.  So many of you gone too soon.

We part only to meet again one day!

I own it.

Image from The Road to Me

What you own belongs to you and if it does then you can do with it what you like.  This is a good way to deal with sadness.

Sadness isn't always a bad thing.  Behind every sadness is always a story of loss but also of love.

Somewhere I read that if you feel grief then it's only because you have known love.  That is a really good thing.  Many people don't know love and, even worse, don't know how to love.

Pieces of April

With April just over, the song title came to my mind.  I grew up with this song in my youth.  Just found it on Youtube and it made me smile.

April was an ordinary month, marked only by the death of a beloved uncle, Rufino Soliano.

He was the eldest in a family of nine children and the only sibling who was older than my dad, who also passed away almost twenty-seven years ago.

When I reconnected with Uncle Rufi, after too many years of not meeting up, the bond was instantaneous for me. Whether we realise it or not, it's the blood that we share.

I will miss him and every time I hear this beautiful song, I shall think of him.

Lines and life

Every now and then I see this image and now decided to put it on my blog so that I'll know where to find it.

Nothing much to say except "food for thought".

Mixed news and reviews

Image from Pinterest

It's only the first week of 2015 and already there has been a bit of sad news. Two deaths so close to each other: both untimely.  Both were in their mid-fifties and when life should begin to take a slower pace.  It's tragic.

I can't help but feel a tinge of concern because death is not the end for those who believe and I can only hope that both of them believed right.

Life goes on and I'm truly blessed that I have followed my bliss.

Often Stephen will catch me off guard by saying that he loves watching me doing my thing. I always laugh because I never even notice him watching me. Usually I am so engrossed in whatever I am doing that I don't realise he's been looking at me.  But I feel a sense of security that he's so protective of me.

I sort of remember doing what he did when the children were small.  They'd be playing or reading or watching TV and I'd stop what I was doing just so I could freeze that moment in my mind.  I'm so glad I did that.  Those memories always make me smile.

Whether Stephen and I are home or out and about, it doesn't matter if we are doing something together or doing our own thing because we have already reached this comfortable level of intimacy.

Our quiet moments are precious moments.

Tonight, I send a whisper of a prayer for those who had their lives snatched suddenly.  May their souls rest in peace.

Suicide :(

Image from Facebook

Everyone is shocked that Robin Williams is dead.  At 63, it seems too soon but for me, the news that it is, apparently, suicide is shocking.

Personally, I don't know anyone who has died that way.  Not that I can remember anyway, unless I have deleted the memory.

If we, who didn't directly know him, feel the sadness, then how much more, his family and friends?  I think that the loss of a life in this manner must be really hard for his children.

May his soul rest in peace.
